Open Gothic is an open source reimplementation of Gothic 2, the beloved 2002 German RPG developed by Piranha Bytes. The project rebuilds the game from the ground up in a modern rendering engine, targeting full compatibility with the original game data while bringing technical improvements to PC players.
This first coverage marks the project entering our radar following recent development activity. Players still require the original Gothic 2 game files to run it, keeping the release legally sound while giving the classic a new technical foundation.
