The RSDKModding team has published a new commit to their RSDKv3 Decompilation project, a open source reverse-engineered recreation of the Retro Engine v3, the engine that powered the original Sonic CD.
This decompilation matters for retro preservation because it allows Sonic CD to run natively on modern hardware without emulation, and gives modders direct access to the engine's internals for the first time. The project targets the version of the engine used specifically for Sonic CD, making it a focused effort tied directly to that Sega CD classic.
